Features
We supply and fit a top quality high grade marine suede which is totally colour fast and mould resistant. It adds comfort in the cold and grip in the wet.
It is very hard wearing and sourced from a specialist British tannery.
All the joins are a graduated lamination preventing the need for extra stitched joins which can fail, where the laminated join does not and it is barely noticeable.
The multiply twine used for stitching is extremely high strength to weight with a very high resistance to UV and most chemicals assuring the longest life possible.
Fitting Service
We aim to cover as much of the South of the UK as possible, whilst based in Bristol, we are a frequently in Plymouth, Poole and London. Ideally it is more cost effective to cover one area at a time but it really depends on your location and the location of the vessel.
Please note the fitting service is to cover the helm wheel not removing the old helm cover or removing padding and glue or tape as this can in instances take hours. If you are not able to do this we can help but please be aware there may well be an extra charge if it takes additional time.
There are three easy options choose from:
1. Fitted on or at your vessel
Once an order is placed we will confirm a time and place to meet at or near the vessel. Access to the boat if on a trot mooring or clearance for a marina or on hard standing. The fitting usually takes around 3-5 hours dependent on the wheel size. There is a £25 call out charge for this dependant on location.
2.Collected fitted & returned
If it is not convenient to access or work on the boat, we can always collect the removed wheel from your house and generally drop it back covered within 24hrs again dependent upon your location and ours at the time!
3. By post & return post
Helm wheels are by nature very resilient items and If you cover the cost to send the wheel we will cover the cost of return post. Current prices for up to 6kg 3ft diameter wheel are approx £11-£16 2 day service collected & tracked and £36 over 3ft (based on packaging volume <8000cm3) Check parcel 2 go websites.
Pricing
For quick estimated, measure in inches the diameter of the wheel multiply the answer by 3.14 to give the circumference divide by 12 to give feet and multiply by £30
An average size wheel is usually around £295.00 (see price examples below)
We do not sell kits but you can find these for £120 - £160 on the internet dependant on quality if that is your preference.
All prices are based upon the most popular colour a silver grey marine grade suede available for most size wheels. There are primarily two wheel rim thickness 7/8th and 1 inch, but occasionally 1.875" which we can also supply please enquire.
The stitching is standard locking stitch and please ensure your wheel will be ready to cover and centre point marked on the for the single join to mark this point.
There is a £25 call out charge and we require a £75 deposit prior to fitting unless the postage option is taken.
If you want other rim diameters, colours or leather finish please ask and we will give you a quote, there are other options closed cell padding, spoke coves, cross stitch rather than locking stitch, if you require any of these please let us know on either the enquiry for or by phone but please note the details required on the enquiry form before calling. We will do everything possible to meet your requirements.

Sizing Wheel Diameter
To accurately measure your wheel diameter use a measure across the wheel as per diagram
Wheel Rim Diameter
Measure the wheel rim diameter by wrapping a piece of paper around the rim and marking the overlap then divide by 3.14 to get the diameter of the rim usually 7/8" or 1"

"I currently spend 6 months working on yachts and suppling leather wheel helms in the Caribbean based in Antigua and St Martin.
